ISO 14064 is a voluntary verification standard and applies to each and every company. It involves companies which aim at better monitoring and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that they cause and improvement of their carbon footprint.

Climate change has been recognized as one of the biggest challenges that the countries, the companies and the citizens encounter.

In response to this challenge, international, national and local initiatives are being developed and implemented to reduce concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere of Earth.

These initiatives are based on the quantification, monitoring, reporting and verification of emissions and / or removals of greenhouse gases.

ISO 14064 is the relevant international certification standard that consists of 3 parts

ISO 14064-1, which provides details of the principles and requirements for the planning, development, management and reporting of a company’s greenhouse gases emissions.
ISO 14064-2, which focuses on projects specifically designed to reduce GHG emissions or increase removals of GHG.
ISO 14064-3, which provides details of the principles and requirements for verification of GHG inventories or GHG projects. It can be used by organizations or third parties (EUROCERT) to verify the GHG statement.

It also includes requirements and guidance on inventory quality management, reporting, internal audit and responsibility of the organization to verify the activities.

EUROCERT is a Greek independent certification body, accredited by National and International Accreditation Bodies with activities in more than 20 countries worldwide.

EUROCERT has well trained and qualified auditors with great experience in their field.

In particular, EUROCERT has gained recognition in the area of conducting verifications under EU-ETS to large companies since 2006 and the beginning of the Emission Trading System in Europe.

Finally, EUROCERT has extended its accreditation in order to include activities in accordance with ISO 14064-1 and has already carried out such audits in Greece and Bulgaria.

The verification, based on ISO 14064 standard, can be performed anytime during the year and includes annual verification audit taking into account the data from the previous reporting year.
