FOOD AND BEVERAGE SAFETY SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION CERTIFICATION FORM

The FSSC 22000 system/scheme is an integrated Food Safety Management System (FSMS). It covers
all Food Safety Management System certification requirements and is based on ISO 22000:2005, BSI
PAS 220:2008 and ISO 22003:2007 standards and is considered equivalent to BRC and IFS.

In order for a food business to be FSSC 22000 certified it must meet the requirements of ISO
22000:2005 and comply with the additional requirements of BSI PAS 220:2008, which sets out good
practice that should be followed by businesses in prerequisites.

Applies to establishments which process food (excluding primary production and slaughter or
harvesting) and which supply food retail outlets.

FSSC 22000 has already been approved by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) as a full standard for
the food industry, equivalent to BRC and IFS, which means that multiple certifications of food safety
systems will no longer be required and therefore no additional costs. FSSC 22000 focuses on international
good practice on critical issues and more specifically, on prerequisites (eg water and air supplies,
cleaning, waste management, preventive maintenance).

which appropriate relevant information is provided and an updated Bibliography is available.
 
 
 

CERTIFICATION PROCEDURE

• The company that decides to be Certified submits a Certification Application.
• The Certification Body appoints an appropriate Team of Inspectors and conducts an on-site Pre-
Assessment Inspection of the company's Quality Management System

During the Pre-Assessment Inspection, the completeness of the System documents (Manual,
Procedures, Instructions, Forms, etc.) and their application (Files) throughout the company is checked
based on FSSC 22000.

• Discrepancies are recorded and the company defines the period of time during which the necessary
corrective actions will be taken.

• Then the Evaluation Inspection is carried out during which the System as a whole is checked as well as
the completion of the Corrective Actions

• If no deviations from the FSSC 22000 system/form are recorded during the Assessment Inspection, the
Certification Body proceeds to issue a Certificate.

• Otherwise, the deviations/Non-Conformities are recorded and when these are properly removed, the
Certificate Issuance Process proceeds

Once the Food Safety Management System Assessment Inspection is successfully completed and there is a positive recommendation from the Inspector Team, the Certificate is issued in a short period of time.


The Certificate is valid for three years and during this period is supported by two annual Surveillance Inspections.
